Static & Pulsed Magnetic Therapy What Is The Difference?
As the names suggests a static magnetic field provides a constant magnetic field and by using magnets in bands of alternating poles, a flow of energy is created. The benefits of using a static magnet is it can be easily applied and left to work on it's own accord.
The advantages of pulsed magnotherapy are that it can be applied to specific areas at controlled levels and it has a greater penetration depth than static magnetic therapy.
What conditions can benefit from using Magnetic Therapy as a treatment?
* Arthritis * Sore Backs * Bruising * Swellings * Strains and Sprains * Tiredness * Muscle Damage * Stiffness & Soreness * Tension * Reduction of Heat Caused By Injury * Soft Tissue Damage * Laminitis * General Stiffness *
How does a static magnetic field work?
As with any form of magnetic treatment, circulation to a particular area is increased by passing blood through a magnetic field. The thermal energy (heat) created increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the affected area, thereby aiding the body's natural healing process.
It is possible that magnotherapy has more than one action on the body, and experience suggests that the benefits are not necessarily confined to the area where the magnet is placed and many human users of magnetic products seem to report an overall improvement of well being (please see testimonials above)
Magnetic fields have long been used to speed up the healing of injuries in humans and animals, thermography, which detects different temperatures within tissue, has shown that there is an increase in blood flow (shown by higher temperature) when magnets are used. Additionally scintigraphy scanning, which measures the uptake of an injected substance, has shown a 30% improvement in this uptake in soft tissue and bones which have been treated with magnets.
The use of magnetic therapy can also be used to help maintain general condition, especially when travelling or after strenuous exercise. It can help sore backs and general stiffness, tiredness, arthritis and strains and sprains, as well as helping to prevent these problems from occurring in the first place.
Is magnetic therapy safe to use?
Magnetic Therapy is a natural treatment and therefore the actual treatment itself is safe to use, but as with all types of alternative treatment, medical advice should be sought at the outset, in order that an accurate diagnosis is made prior to treatment.
Magnet therapy is now used by over 200 million people worldwide. Clinical studies in the U.S., Japan and Europe have shown magnet therapy to be a safe, effective method of relieving pain and promoting healing. Since 2006 in the UK the NHS has started
to prescribe them!
Magnotherapy products should not be worn by anyone fitted with a heart pacemaker and there is no substitute for sound medical advice. We would recommend that if you or your animals are, or have been, receiving any treatment for a particular condition that you consult your practitioner.
